Buy In = Culture
A strong culture is the glue that holds great companies together. When employees are “bought-in” to the mission, vision, core values and purpose of the organization they form a tribe that takes deep ownership and pride of the company and their work. Additionally they begin to hold their teammates accountable (name any championship team here). Which is all the more reason why senior leadership and management need consistent alignment.
Developing a great culture is not a quick fix or a one-time process. It requires continual monitoring and improvement (“kaizen”). Although no single person can change the culture across an entire organization, leaders set the tone… or as I’ve heard it - “the fish stinks from the head”.
Remember, the goal of leadership is to develop future leaders. If you lead with the heart of development it will not go unnoticed. Plus it’s easy to buy in when you put the best interest of others first.
